About the club
- IPMS SJ
- We are a group of people who enjoy the hobby of plastic model building. Our members interests range from Aircraft, Automobiles, Ships, Figures, Armour, to Sci Fi. We have all skill levels from beginners to some pretty talented modellers, but we mainly meet to share our work, ideas, tips and techniques, and talk about modelling in general. Meeting Summary April 11, 2017
In attendance tonight:
Derrick, Joe, Steve R., Chris W, Rodney, Craig, Rod, Tracie, Dennis, Gary, Tony, Rob, Steve F., Tyler, Mike
Also along tonight, Friend of the Club, R/C Warship and Tank enthusiast, AND plastic model builder - Curt.
Welcome to new member Shawn! Glad to have you aboard!
I think this is the largest attendance we have had in 5 years!
Dennis brought his 1/5 scale SE5A with Billy Bishop markings. This thing flys!
Gary brought in a beautiful Edsel…
Curt shows us his AMT 1/1400 Starship USS Enterprise D. This is blacked out with black paint, will be painted in the grey/beige colors, and will have LED and Phaser ring colors installed. That means over 1000 scratch outs of the paint to get the lights to shine through inside. Curt hopes this will be done for the Show in Oct. I personally can’t wait to see it.
Joe showed his in-progress Sherman Tank build, and a track display with different types of tracks, Plastic individual link for the Sherman (foreground), Friul metal Panther tank tracks with Burnishing Fluid applied (middle). Friul metal Tiger I tracks painted Burnt Iron (behind). Tamiya XF-84 Burnt Iron paint bottle behind tank.
Craig shows us his entry for the Club Egg Plane contest, his Focke-Wolf FW190.
Be sure to check out next month to see the results of our Egg Plane competition!
Keep Building!!!!

Dave has been very productive lately, producing more kits, figures and Dio’s. Dave always says that a figure really sets off a kit display. He is right! Here are two recent pieces.
Rod is working on his Egg plane entries for next month, Eggagi and Black bird (it lays eggs).
Steve F - A unique aircraft, Bristol Beaufighter MKII with Merlin Engines. That’s different.
Dennis brought in his Vickers Vimy RC.
