Very pleased to see such a large attendance to start of
2015, I think it is the most we have ever had at a meeting in the last 4 years.
In attendance: Randy, Rob, Mike, Joe, Steve F, Steve R, Andy,
Gary, Chris W, Chris J, Rodney, Tracie, Mark, and Meg.
Joe and Steve F - My recently completed 48 Scale Tamiya
Gloster Meteor F3, done in white as to not be confused with the ME262, and
previous 72 scale Airfix build for comparison. Also a shot of Steve F Meteor
F1, first production model on the Meteor from early to late 1944, replaced by
the F3 in late 44.
Rob spied this one recently at the LHS and declared that it must be his, and made it so!
Tracie - This was a quick but very well done Fokker DR.1
triplane and base, nice job Tracie!
Steve R is really back into building and here are a couple
of upcoming projects. The ones I recognized were the SBD Dauntless with
aftermarket PE and resin. Also an ME-109-4 with extras as well. Anxiously
waiting these builds when complete!
Rodney wanted to see what all the Armour fuss was about so
he picked on the Dragon Tiger 1 Late production and is well into the build. But
as the rest of us zipperhead builders know, the fun only starts after you paint
it J Good Luck Rodney and
have fun!.
Chris W is well down the road in his Lockheed 48 scale PV-1 Ventura.
As former Air Force his affinity and detailed knowledge of aircraft show in his
work. Keep it going Chris! Chirs also wants to put this Bren carrier together as a tug for the aircraft, similar to what was used at RCAF Torbay
Chris J has two build on this night, a recently completed
BTR-60 from the Soviet/Afghan war, and an in-progress M48 from the Vietnam era.
Rather than show my poor quality point and shoot picture, I lifted a final shot
from Chris’ blog.. Coming up soon, the M48 will get Chris’s usually spectacular
treatment and I am sure this one will be another piece of art added to his
growing selection.
Gary was on the mood to do a quick build and put this nice little 1970 Chevelle-SS together. One of my top 3 favourite cars.
We see Meg every now and then and she never disappoints. As a
scratch modeler, I respect and envy her skills. As an aircraft mechanic, she
has had exposure to real walk rounds on a daily basis, so her knowledge and
attention to detail serves her well. Some projects she is working – Cadet Glider
(Schweizer 2-33 Glider maybe?). That is well on its way. Also the CL-415 water
bomber. Which she has worked on in real life and is scratch building an
interior for, from plastic AND metal. Lastly a Leopard 1A5. Also pictured is
the Airfix 1/600 Hood, which Meg wants to build as a tribute to a relative that
went down on that in 1940.
See you Next Month!
Don't forget the Egg Plane Challenge!
